Halloween Fun

Hallo-week Has Officially Begun

Monday is Day 1 of our Pumpkin Hunt. Each day, there will be a search for the pumpkin that brings instant prizes to the person who finds it. 

Boo Grams will be sold for $1.00.  Send a candy gram to a friend!

This year, you the students of Catholic Central have the chance to mummify a teacher! Starting Monday, you can vote for one of the seven teachers that volunteered to be mummified on Thursday. You can vote during lunch for Mr. Walls, Mr. Gravalese, Ms. Nehmentallah, Ms. Pastorious, Ms. Hannan, Ms. Palameta

Students are encouraged to sign-up for the Halloween themes talent show being held period 3 on Monday, October 31st (CLASS BUY OUT: $2 a student).

Costume Day - Monday, October 31st
Students are welcome to come to school dressed up in costume on Halloween.  Only appropriate costumes are permitted.  They must be MODEST!  No masks, gruesome or scary costumes allowed.  No clown costumes.
Those students who do not wish to dress in costume are expected to wear their school uniform on Monday, October 31st.

PD Day - Friday, October 28th, 2016

Friday, October 28th, 2016 is a Professional Development (PD) Day.  This means that there is no school for students on Friday.

Italian Course

If you are interested in studying the Italian language and culture, students can now enrol in credit courses with the WECDSB offered at the Ciociaro Club.

These Italian language courses are for Grade 10, 11, and 12 students and will be offered one night a week between October 18th and May 30th, with a total of 90 hours of instruction time.

Congratulations Adrianna - Roseland Rotary Award Recipient

On October 4, 2016, Adrianna Ganko was recognized at a luncheon by the Roseland  Rotary for acts of kindness and service to others. Adrianna has been a great ambassador for CCH and has extended a warm hand of friendship to many new students. A quiet leader with humility, Adrianna is always willing to assist.  Well done Adrianna, CCH is proud of you!

Presenting the award to Adrianna is Roseland Rotary President, Julie Dragich.

National Teen Driver Safety Week

Windsor Police Service and Safe Communities Windsor, will be taking part in a positive ticketing blitz/awareness campaign during National Teen Driver Safety Week.  Windsor police officers will be at Catholic Central High School on Monday, October 17th to speak with students regarding teen driver safety issues.  This will take place at lunch time in the cafeteria.

Students that participate in the positive ticketing blitz, will be entered in a draw to win one of the following prizes:
  • 3 X $1000 gift cards for your choice of Best Buy or Indigo
  • 20 X $20 gift cards
  • 5 mystery give aways

This Friday, October 14th, marks the annual PINK BOWL!  Our fearless Comets will take on Kennedy in the annual Breast Cancer Awareness Senior Football Game.  Game time is 2:00 pm at Windsor Stadium.  

Those students wishing to cheer on our team can purchase a pink bracelet for $3.00 from Coach Khoury all this week at lunch time. This $3.00 donation to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation will allow students to attend the game as well as accent their uniform bottoms with PINK on Friday.  
Students who have purchased a pink bracelet will be excused from class at 1:45 pm to make their way over to Windsor Stadium for the game.

Looking forward to seeing a sea of PINK on Friday!

Speaker's Award for Youth Writers

Calling all young writers!  The Speaker’s Award for Youth Writers invites Ontario youth in grades 7-12 to submit their short stories and personal essays to this writing contest. Original fiction and non-fiction submissions are welcome, and a winner from each of the following three grade categories will be chosen:
1)     Grades 7-8
2)     Grades 9-10
3)     Grades 11-12
Online applications will be accepted from September 26th through November 4th, 2016
